Delta Air Lines, the major hub carrier in Atlanta, faced the brunt of the disruptions with 542 cancellations and 684 delays nationwide. American Airlines also canceled 223 flights as they dealt with weather-related issues in Reagan National, Charlotte, and Dallas-Fort Worth. Delta conducted inspections on around 100 aircraft post-hailstorm, with most back in service on Saturday. The airlines are working diligently to recover from the impact of the storms, expressing gratitude for their customers’ patience. Severe weather conditions led to ground stops and diversions on Friday, with the air traffic control tower briefly evacuated due to strong winds. Controllers remained on duty to manage air traffic during this time.
