Authorities in Arizona apprehended a pair believed to be involved in train robberies targeting Nike shoes. The Hualapai Nation Police Department disclosed that a male and a female, both undocumented immigrants, were arrested last week. The male suspect, a Mexican national, was taken into custody on March 27 after police stopped a vehicle linked to the thefts and found Nike footwear nearby.
The female suspect attempted to flee in a white Toyota 4Runner on Highway 66, disregarding an emergency vehicle signal. Following a dramatic 80-mile pursuit, she lost control near the Arizona-California border, crashing into a guardrail and being ejected from the vehicle. The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Both individuals were subsequently held at the Mohave County Adult Detention Center, with charges pending.
These arrests are part of a series of Nike shoe train robberies plaguing the Western states, with over $2 million worth of merchandise stolen in recent heists. The thieves operate swiftly, employing a method where stolen goods are swiftly transferred from the train to waiting vehicles. The culprits target remote areas to evade capture, making their escape difficult for law enforcement.
