Arkansas Farmer Takes on US Sen Tom Cotton’s Reelection !

In northeast Arkansas, a sixth-generation farmer named Hallie Shoffner declared her intention on Tuesday to run for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming Senate race against Sen. Tom Cotton, who is vying for a third term as the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Shoffner, from Newport, emphasized her plans to lower taxes for blue-collar workers, protect Medicaid and Social Security, reduce the deficit, and prioritize lowering costs for ordinary citizens. She criticized Cotton for his role in what she described as a “rigged system.” Cotton, who was first elected to the Senate in 2014, is considered a potential presidential candidate in 2028. He has amassed a significant campaign fund and secured endorsements from President Donald Trump, as well as other prominent Arkansas politicians. In response to Shoffner’s candidacy, Cotton reaffirmed his commitment to policies such as border security, tax cuts, and strengthening the nation. The primary election in Arkansas is scheduled for March 2026, with the candidate filing period set for November 3-11.
