Arbitration Triumph Sets Stage for Team Ownership

According to an individual familiar with the deal who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity due to lack of authorization to discuss the matter publicly, Rodriguez and Lore encountered difficulties meeting financial and documentation deadlines on multiple occasions during the process. However, Rodriguez and Lore disputed these claims, asserting that Taylor was experiencing seller’s remorse. Following their successful outcome in arbitration, Rodriguez and Lore must now seek approval from NBA owners to acquire the remaining 40% ownership stake. To complete the transaction, they will require the consent of at least 75% of the league’s owners. Since initiating the sale proceedings, Lore and Rodriguez have been actively present at the Target Center, showing their support for the Timberwolves. The team recently achieved significant success, reaching the 2024 Western Conference Finals for the first time in two decades. Currently, the Timberwolves hold a record of 30-23, securing the sixth position in the highly competitive Western Conference standings. This development was reported by Jeff Zillgitt and originally featured on USA TODAY: Alex Rodriguez wins arbitration in Timberwolves, Lynx ownership case.
