Apple Overhauls App Store Rules in EU to Meet Antitrust Demands!

Apple altered its rules and fees in the European Union’s App Store following a directive from the bloc’s antitrust regulators to eliminate obstacles hindering customers from making purchases outside the platform. The tech giant stated that developers would incur a 20% processing fee for transactions within the App Store, with potential reductions to as low as 13% for participants in Apple’s small-business initiative. For transactions directed outside the platform, developers will face a minimum fee of 5% and a maximum of 15%, while they are also permitted to include multiple external payment links. These adjustments are intended to assist Apple in sidestepping a potential 500 million euro ($570 million) fine threatened by EU antitrust authorities earlier in the year. Apple expressed its disagreement with the ruling and announced its intention to appeal.
