NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Newcastle United’s forward, Alexander Isak, has seen his remarkable scoring streak come to an end. The Swedish international had found the back of the net in eight consecutive matches before failing to score in Newcastle’s 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday. Isak had been on the verge of surpassing a record set by Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy in 2015.
Isak’s scoring run has now placed him tied for third in the list of the longest scoring streaks in the Premier League era (since 1992), according to Opta, the league’s official statistics provider:
