Alert: Central US Faces Mysterious Threat!

The heart of the country is under threat from strong winds that could bring about damage, extreme fire risks, and the potential for blizzard conditions. These weather conditions are expected to follow a severe weather event happening over the weekend.

Anticipated High Wind Impacts
As of Friday morning, winds are picking up in the southern High Plains and are forecasted to intensify and spread throughout the day.

Current Wind Situation
The National Weather Service has issued high wind warnings for a large portion of the Plains, covering cities such as Dallas, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Amarillo. Wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph are possible in these areas on Friday, which could lead to downed trees, power outages, and dangerous road conditions for high-profile vehicles.

Upcoming High Wind Alerts
On Saturday, the Midwest and parts of the Northern and Southern Plains will experience strong winds. The East coast could also expect gusty winds as a cold front brings rain on Sunday.

Blowing Dust and Fire Danger
The strong winds in the Southern Plains may result in blowing dust, causing visibility issues and posing a threat to wildfires. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted “extreme fire-weather conditions” in parts of western Texas to southern Kansas.

Blizzard Risk
Dubbed Winter Storm Marisol, this system may bring over 6 inches of snow to western Minnesota and eastern Dakotas, accompanied by high winds that could create blizzard conditions in certain areas. Travel could be hazardous along Interstates 29, 90, and 94.

Ongoing Rain and Snow Forecast
The weather system is expected to persist with rain and snow through Saturday. Stay informed and prepared for changing conditions.
