Aldi customers are advised to check their refrigerators for a potential recall on Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc., a supplier of generic cheeses to the grocery chain. The recall, initiated by the company due to possible contamination with stainless steel fragments, affects the Happy Farms by ALDI Colby Jack shredded cheese with best-buy dates of July 13 and 14, 2025. Approximately 400 cases of this product were distributed to select states.
It is recommended that customers who have purchased this cheese discard the product and not consume it. Aldi has procedures in place to handle recalls swiftly, and in this case, the contaminated merchandise may have been removed from shelves already.
This recall is one of several incidents this year involving food safety concerns. Prior recalls include Dunkin’ products and Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes due to a listeria outbreak. Another recent recall involves over 75,000 bottles of International Delight Coffee Creamers due to complaints of spoilage and illness. The parent company, Danone, LLC, has confirmed a texture issue with these products, emphasizing that it is not a food safety concern but a quality matter that they are addressing diligently.
