Actress discovers life-threatening condition after noticing androgynous clues

Even though Walsh recognized that advocating for oneself in such situations can be difficult, she expressed the challenges involved. “It’s a hard thing when you have everybody looking at you going, ‘Hmm, I think you’re just this or that. You’re tired,'” she said during a discussion in 2017 on TODAY regarding her diagnosis and recovery. Feeling “exhausted,” Walsh decided to seek medical help after completing her role in the show ‘Bad Judge’ where she not only starred but also executive produced. She initially brushed off her exhaustion as a result of overworking.

Soon, Walsh began experiencing cognitive difficulties, struggling to articulate herself. Despite facing obstacles in obtaining a diagnostic MRI, Walsh persisted and ultimately discovered the presence of a “very sizable tumor.” Following surgery, she received the relieving news that the tumor was benign, identified as a meningioma by John Hopkins Medicine as “the most common type of primary brain tumor.”

According to the John Hopkins Medicine website, meningiomas originate in the meninges, the protective layers of tissue between the skull and the brain. These tumors develop slowly and may go undetected for years.
