Elizabeth Fox-Doerr and her lover, Larry Ali Richmond Sr., were involved in the tragic case of the murder of Robert Doerr, a veteran of the Evansville Fire Department with 28 years’ service.
Fox-Doerr was sentenced to 90 years in prison for her part in conspiring to murder her husband. Richmond Sr., who has been charged separately with murder, is awaiting trial.
The Indiana Court of Appeals recently upheld the conspiracy to commit murder charge against Fox-Doerr. Despite arguments from her defence attorneys for her release, the court found sufficient evidence linking her to Richmond Sr.
The murder took place in the Doerrs’ driveway. Richmond Sr. allegedly approached Robert after his extra shift and fatally shot him. Fox-Doerr’s involvement was revealed when she deleted a call to Richmond Sr. before reporting the shooting to 999.
Richmond Sr., a convicted killer who had been released from prison the previous year, had bragged about the murder to his son. Investigators connected him to the case early on. The court’s decision to uphold Fox-Doerr’s conviction was unanimous, with the judges concluding that there was sufficient evidence of a conspiracy between her and Richmond Sr.
Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Diana Moers expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, emphasising that justice had been served for Robert Doerr and his loved ones. Richmond Sr. is due to stand trial in December on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He has pleaded not guilty.
