Ford Recalls 300,000 F-Series Trucks for Faulty Fuel Pumps!

Ford Motor is recalling 295,449 diesel-engine trucks due to a defective fuel pump that could result in a loss of power, heightening the risk of a potential crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Tuesday. The NHTSA stated that “Biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, which could lead to failure of the high-pressure fuel pump.”

Drivers of the affected vehicles may encounter issues such as “extended crank while starting, a Check Engine Light (CEL), noise, and reduced engine power,” as per recall documents. Ford has clarified that as of now, there have been no reports of accidents, injuries, or fires related to the fuel pump problem.

The recall applies to the following truck models:
– 2020-2022 Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600
– 2021-2022 Ford F-650, F-750

Ford dealers will update the powertrain control module software at no cost, as stated by the automaker. Notification letters are scheduled to be sent to owners of affected vehicles on Jan. 13, 2025. Owners can reach out to Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332; the recall number for Ford is 24S78. For further information, owners can contact NHTSA’s safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (toll-free at 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov. The NHTSA recall number is 24V-957.

Ford has issued multiple recalls on the same day:
– Over 20,000 compact SUVs were recalled due to battery failure concerns affecting certain 2020-2024 Ford Escape and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair vehicles. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on Jan. 20.
– Nearly 50,000 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles were recalled for faulty power windows that may not detect obstructions, potentially leading to injury. Owner notification letters are set to be sent on Jan. 13.
– More than 30,000 2019 Flex, Fiesta, and 2019 Lincoln MKT cars were recalled due to a faulty rear-view camera that intermittently displays a blank, distorted, or inverted image while in reverse. Owner notification letters will commence on Feb. 2, 2025, and conclude by Feb. 7, 2025.

Ford did not respond immediately to a request for comment on these recalls. In November, NHTSA fined Ford $165 million for delays in a 2020 recall of over 620,000 vehicles in the U.S. and over 700,000 in North America, which involved faulty rear-view cameras. Shortly after the civil fine announcement, NHTSA revealed two probes related to other Ford recalls, one concerning.
