Second Trump Assassination Attempt Trial Delayed!

A trial for Ryan Routh, the suspect in the second assassination attempt of President-elect Donald Trump, has been postponed until September 2025, a U.S. judge announced on Monday.

The trial, originally scheduled for February 10, was delayed after Routh’s lawyers requested more time to review the extensive evidence in the case. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, based in Florida, granted the delay but deemed the defense’s proposed postponement until December 2025 as “excessive.” The trial is now set to commence on September 8, 2025.

Routh, 58, is facing five federal charges, including the attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate. Authorities allege that Routh was armed and positioned near a Trump-owned golf course in Florida in September, allegedly with the intent to shoot Trump during his presidential campaign. Routh has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.

Judge Cannon, the presiding judge overseeing the high-profile case, previously handled the criminal proceedings against Trump, which were later dismissed. The case alleged that Trump unlawfully retained classified documents during his first term in office.

The decision to delay Routh’s trial comes amid heightened scrutiny and security concerns surrounding political figures, particularly in the wake of recent events. The trial is anticipated to be closely monitored by legal experts and the public alike.
