Özgür allegedly engaged in lobbying efforts directed at Mayor Adams to expedite the opening of the country’s consulate building, according to court documents. When contacted by The Post for comment, Adams responded, “I’m so busy, thank you.” His legal counsel did not provide an immediate response to a request for a statement.
Mayor Adams has consistently refuted any allegations of misconduct in the significant indictment involving a current NYC mayor. In a statement, Adams’ attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that the recent plea agreement had no impact on the mayor’s situation. Spiro asserted, “We know from the government’s own interviews that Mr. Arkan repeatedly stated that Mayor Adams was unaware of his actions. Mr. Arkan’s behavior will not influence the mayor’s legal proceedings in any way.”
