Justice Served Serial Killer’s Gruesome Demise

Trigger Warning: The following account includes explicit, distressing details. An individual from Oklahoma was put to death for the brutal murder of a 10-year-old girl back in 2006. The man, Kevin Ray Underwood, enticed the young girl into his apartment as part of a disturbing cannibalistic fantasy. Jamie Rose Bolin tragically lost her life at the hands of Underwood, who sexually assaulted her in his residence in Purcell, Oklahoma on April 12, 2006, as reported by the Associated Press, The Norman Transcript, and The Oklahoman.

Following his heinous crime, Underwood was sentenced to death in 2008 and met his fate through lethal injection on Thursday, December 19, coincidentally, his 45th birthday, according to The Oklahoman, AP, and CBS News. Jamie resided with her father in the same housing complex as Underwood at the time of the horrendous incident, as documented by the AP.

Underwood, a former employee at a grocery store, used a cutting board to strike the 10-year-old girl after luring her into his apartment, later suffocating and sexually assaulting her, as detailed by the AP, The Norman Transcript, and The Oklahoman. Following suspicions raised by officers at a checkpoint, a search of his residence led to the heartbreaking discovery of Jamie’s lifeless body in a plastic bag hidden in his closet, according to the AP and The Norman Transcript.

Underwood admitted to authorities that he had contemplated decapitating the child with intentions to consume her flesh, but ultimately abandoned that macabre plan, various media outlets reported. He claimed that his actions were driven by a twisted, cannibalistic sexual desire he harbored, as per the AP and The Oklahoman.

His legal team argued that Underwood had endured severe childhood trauma and suffered from mental health issues, including a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, as reported by the AP and The Oklahoman. However, prosecutors maintained that while many individuals face abuse and mental health challenges, they do not resort to such heinous acts of violence.

During a recent hearing for a clemency petition, Underwood extended an apology to Jamie’s family, his own relatives, and all present in the courtroom, expressing remorse for the gruesome nature of his actions, according to The Oklahoman, CBS News, and the AP. Despite his plea for clemency, his request was ultimately denied, and he was executed by lethal injection around 10:14 a.m. on a Thursday, as The Norman Transcript disclosed.
