The Colorado Rockies, who have had a challenging start to the 2025 season, showcased a remarkable play on Saturday by turning a triple play. In the second inning of their home game against the Athletics, the visiting team managed to get runners on first and second with no outs. Rockies pitcher German Marquez pitched to Jacob Wilson, who hit a ground ball to third baseman Ryan McMahon. McMahon swiftly stepped on third base, then threw to Kyle Farmer at second base for the second out. Farmer’s throw to Michael Toglia at first base completed the triple play, leaving the Rockies players beaming with pride at their accomplishment. The last time Colorado pulled off a triple play was nearly a decade ago on September 1, 2015. This impressive feat seemed to ignite momentum for the Rockies, as they responded in the bottom half of the inning when Sean Bouchard hit a two-run home run to kick off the scoring in Denver. Prior to this game, the Rockies held a 1-6 record for the season.
