Carnie Wilson Expresses Concern Over Daughter’s American Idol Audition

Singer Carnie Wilson recently shared her thoughts on her daughter Lola’s American Idol audition. Alongside her Wilson Phillips bandmates, Carnie attended a panel discussing the music of the 90s at the Connecticut Convention Center. The group also performed at the event’s afterparty.

During Lola’s audition on American Idol, she performed with her mother and aunt, Wendy Wilson, singing the group’s hit song “Hold On.” Carnie revealed that Lola was incredibly nervous for the audition, describing it as the scariest thing she has ever done. Despite her nerves, Carnie expressed pride in her daughter’s performance.

However, Carnie also addressed the negative comments circulating online about Lola’s audition. She emphasized the hurtful impact of online criticism and expressed frustration over not being able to respond to the negativity. Carnie stressed the importance of recognizing that artists are real people with feelings.

Despite the challenges, Carnie encouraged Lola to pursue her passion for singing, highlighting her daughter’s beautiful voice and bravery in auditioning for the show. The judges on American Idol agreed, sending Lola to Hollywood after her moving rendition of “Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves.

The Wilson Phillips members come from musical backgrounds, with Carnie and Wendy being the daughters of music legends Brian Wilson and Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford. Chynna Phillips Baldwin’s parents are also renowned musicians, John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.

As Lola continues her journey on American Idol, supported by her family and bandmates, Carnie remains proud of her daughter’s talent and determination.
