Gérard Depardieu’s Trial: Actor Admits to Aggressive Behavior, Denies Criminal Intent

At his sexual assault trial in Paris, French actor Gérard Depardieu acknowledged using crude language and physically touching his accuser but denied any criminal actions. The 76-year-old is accused of inappropriately touching a set dresser and an assistant director during the filming of the movie “Les Volets Verts” in 2022.

During his testimony, Depardieu expressed regret for his behavior, stating that his actions were aggressive but not sexual in nature. He emphasized that he did not have any intention to harass or assault the women involved.

The set dresser recounted feeling trapped and frightened as Depardieu allegedly touched her inappropriately. She described his behavior as menacing and disturbing. Depardieu defended his actions as a way to maintain balance and denied any malicious intent.

This trial marks the first time Depardieu faces legal consequences for allegations of sexual misconduct, despite previous accusations from multiple women. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to five years and a substantial fine.
