Carlos Alcaraz is getting ready to compete at the upcoming Miami Open. He has expressed his disapproval of the legal actions taken by the Professional Tennis Players’ Association (PTPA) against the sport’s governing bodies. The PTPA, co-founded by Novak Djokovic, has filed lawsuits alleging monopolization and disregard for player interests in men’s and women’s tennis. The lawsuit addresses issues such as prize money, rankings, scheduling, integrity investigations, and player compensation. Twelve players, including Vasek Pospisil and Nick Kyrgios, are named as plaintiffs in the complaint filed in the US. Alcaraz stated that he was not informed about the lawsuit and does not support it. The PTPA is taking legal action against the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA. The governing bodies have expressed their dissatisfaction and intend to defend their positions. Despite the PTPA claiming support from top players, Alcaraz distanced himself from the lawsuit. He emphasized that while he agrees with some aspects, he does not support the overall legal action. Alcaraz, the reigning Miami Open champion, will face David Goffin in his first match of the tournament on Friday.
