Prior to the release of their album “I Said I Love You First,” music producer Benny Blanco and his fiancée Selena Gomez spoke about how the album came together in a discussion for Spotify’s First Look series. In a preview clip, Gomez mentioned that their conversations as a couple never started with discussing what to write in the album, but rather revolved around sharing thoughts and feelings. Blanco humorously revealed that he felt like Gomez’s personal journal at times, jotting down lines for songs during their talks. The couple has released three songs from the album so far: “Scared of Loving You,” “Call Me When You Break Up” featuring Gracie Abrams, and “Sunset Blvd.” They expressed a focus on music over wedding planning, with Gomez emphasizing the importance of pouring their hearts into the album. The album is said to offer fans insight into their relationship, documenting their journey from before they met to falling in love. “I Said I Love You First” is set to be streamed starting March 21.
