Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Struggles with Intimacy Coordinator for Sex Scenes!

Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet co-star in the upcoming film “Marty Supreme,” where they portray love interests. Paltrow recently shared with Vanity Fair that while working on the movie, she requested a lighter touch from the intimacy coordinator, feeling constrained as an artist by their oversight. Despite the common practice of having intimacy coordinators on Hollywood sets, Paltrow and Chalamet preferred a less involved approach during filming.

In her return to acting after the Netflix series “The Politician,” Paltrow joins Chalamet in Josh Safdie’s “Marty Supreme,” scheduled for release on December 25. The movie, revolving around table tennis player Martin “Marty” Reisman, features Chalamet as the lead character and Paltrow as a woman involved with the “Ping-Pong mafia.”

During the filming process, which included intimate scenes between the characters played by Paltrow and Chalamet, an intimacy coordinator was present, a role unfamiliar to Paltrow given her extensive career in the industry. Despite this, Paltrow expressed her comfort with traditional on-set practices, highlighting her background in a different era of filmmaking.

With the rise of intimacy coordinators in recent years, celebrities have shared diverse opinions on their necessity. While some, like Kim Basinger, find them unnecessary and prefer to navigate such scenes without external guidance, others like Mikey Madison value a more intimate and controlled environment. Actor Harris Dickinson praised the delicate and facilitating role of intimacy coordinators, emphasizing their support in aligning the actors’ comfort with the director’s vision during intimate scenes.

Some older actors express a desire for intimacy coordinators on set to prevent people from taking advantage of their vulnerability. Actress Patricia Arquette recounted an experience on the set of David Lynch’s “Lost Highway” where unauthorized individuals were present during her nude scenes, leading her to confront them in order to ensure a safe environment. She expressed gratitude for the presence of intimacy coordinators today, recognizing the importance of their role in maintaining boundaries and professionalism. Arquette emphasized the necessity of such support in light of potential misconduct by various individuals on set, regardless of their role. Requests for a comment from Timothée Chalamet’s representatives to Business Insider were not immediately answered. (Source: Business Insider)
