Although the MLB season officially kicked off this morning, remnants of the offseason are still lingering. There are numerous free agents available for signing by any MLB team willing to make a move. One notable player, Alex Verdugo, remains unsigned despite his past success as the New York Yankees’ everyday left fielder who played in the World Series last season. Surprisingly, MLB teams have shown little interest in signing him, even though his former Yankees teammates have spoken highly of him. Despite receiving some interest from teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Angels, and Houston Astros, Verdugo has yet to receive any official offers. In 2024, his performance was below his usual standard, but he still has youth on his side and remains a solid defensive player. With his skills and availability, it’s puzzling why he has not yet secured a deal.
