In a surprising upset, the Orlando Magic ended the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 16-game winning streak with a 108-103 victory on Sunday. Paolo Banchero led the way with 24 points, while Franz Wagner contributed 22 points. The Cavaliers, who had not lost since Feb. 4, struggled to put away the Magic in the final minutes, missing crucial shots down the stretch. Banchero’s clutch jumper put the Magic ahead 104-103, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope sealed the win with two free throws. Despite shooting 6 of 22, Banchero also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists. Wendell Carter Jr. added a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds for Orlando. Donovan Mitchell returned for the Cavs but couldn’t prevent the loss, finishing with 23 points. Jarrett Allen had a strong performance with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Cavs missed the opportunity to win 17 straight games, a feat last achieved by Phoenix in 2021. Orlando showed resilience despite facing season-ending injuries to key players Mo Wagner and Jalen Suggs. Cleveland needs to address late-game execution issues before the playoffs. The Magic will face the Rockets next, while the Cavaliers begin a road trip against the Clippers.
