Top Players Chosen for Crucial Tournament by Coach Tuchel

LONDON (AP) — Coach Thomas Tuchel has named Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson in his inaugural England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. Rashford’s national team future had been uncertain following his loan to Aston Villa from Manchester United, while both players were absent from last year’s European Championship.

In addition to Rashford and Henderson, Tuchel has introduced uncapped defenders Myles Lewis-Skelly and Dan Burn to the 26-man squad. Lewis-Skelly, 18, represents Arsenal, while 32-year-old Burn earns his first call-up from Newcastle.

England will face Albania next Friday and Latvia three days later at Wembley Stadium. Henderson, 34, made a move from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023 but quickly transferred to Ajax to maintain his spot in the England squad and compete in European matches after just six months.

Former coach Gareth Southgate had omitted Henderson from the Euros squad, where England reached the final but ultimately lost 2-1 to Spain.
