Midweek Severe Weather Precedes Lateweek Outbreak!

A storm system that brought rain to Southern California will move eastward across the Southern states, potentially causing severe weather in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma by midweek, according to AccuWeather meteorologists. This midweek system is separate from another storm expected to bring tornadoes over the weekend. While not as intense, the midweek system will still have significant impacts on the region, with threats of large hail and strong winds. Hailstones as large as golf balls and baseballs could cause property damage, while wind gusts may reach up to 80 mph, capable of breaking tree limbs and causing power outages. Flash flooding is expected to be limited to urban areas due to the storm’s quick movement. Major metro areas such as Shreveport, Little Rock, Dallas, and Memphis are at risk for severe thunderstorms through Wednesday night. There is also a possibility of isolated tornadoes with any severe thunderstorm activity. Residents in the Southeastern states should prepare for locally heavy thunderstorms on Thursday before the main severe weather event on Friday.
