Spring Storm Alert FOX Weather Predicts Severe Weather!

Welcome to the Daily Weather Update from FOX Weather on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Stay informed about today’s weather as we dive into a train of severe weather systems poised to sweep across the nation starting Wednesday and possibly lingering through the weekend. Millions of individuals in more than half of the U.S. may encounter damaging winds, tornadoes, and the potential for severe weather on Friday and Saturday. The storm kicks off on Tuesday in California as an atmospheric river event.

Forecasters at the FOX Forecast Center suggest an escalation of severe weather on Wednesday in the Ark-La-Tex region as a storm front progresses eastward from the Southwest into the southern Plains. Additionally, a heightened threat of severe weather is anticipated for Friday and Saturday.

According to NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC), “Severe storms with a risk of tornadoes, swaths of damaging winds, and hail are expected from the Ark-La-Tex into the middle and lower Mississippi Valley on Friday.” The risk will shift eastward towards the Southeast on Saturday. Simultaneously, the same system fueling severe weather may trigger a hazardous fire risk and another blizzard in the Plains, resulting in widespread power outages and blizzard conditions on Friday due to blowing snow.

Originating as an atmospheric river drenching California, this vigorous storm system is expected to intensify rapidly, prompting urgent alerts for residents in the Upper Midwest, High Plains, and Southwest regions. Blizzard conditions are most likely in the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, and parts of Minnesota, while snow accumulation could be limited by the lack of deep cold air.

Furthermore, parts of New Mexico and Texas face a fire weather threat beginning Tuesday, compounded by storm-induced winds, extending at least until Friday. Central and eastern U.S. cities can anticipate one last warm day on Tuesday, with Boston and New York possibly experiencing their warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures in the 60s.

Before a brief return to wintry conditions on Wednesday, over 200 areas will enjoy above-average temperatures. A tornado struck the FOX 35 Orlando television station on Monday morning, demolishing two homes north of Orlando. Fortunately, there were no major injuries reported.
