Wendy Williams Hospitalized After Police Welfare Check in NYC!

Former talk show host Wendy Williams was taken to a hospital in New York City after a welfare check by the New York Police Department. The NYPD conducted the welfare check at the senior living facility where she resides. Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the 60-year-old female to the hospital for evaluation. USA TODAY has reached out to Wendy Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, for a comment.

Morrissey has stated in court filings that Wendy Williams, known for “The Wendy Williams Show,” is suffering from cognitive impairment and permanent incapacitation due to primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia diagnosed in 2023. Despite these diagnoses, Williams has disputed them in recent interviews. In January, she told the Breakfast Club that she is not cognitively impaired and feels like she is trapped in a conservatorship, likening it to being in prison.

Morrissey addressed Williams’ recent public statements regarding her mental capacity and a lawsuit against Lifetime in a court document last month. She mentioned that Williams would undergo a new medical evaluation despite her public disagreement with the FTD diagnosis. This disagreement is common among FTD patients with impaired self-awareness.

Morrissey believes it is important for Williams to undergo a comprehensive neurological and psychological evaluation by a specialist. There are indications that Williams might make an appearance on “The View” later in the week, as hinted by a social media post from one of the producers of her talk show.
