Cutting-edge medical facility revolutionizes healthcare with robotics

“We were able to truly bring the recipe for success that we’ve witnessed on other NYU campuses to Suffolk County,” Dr. Marc Adler, senior vice president and chief of hospital operations, shared with The Post prior to the official announcement. The rebranding is just the beginning of the transformative changes underway, as the facility now offers a wider array of services and procedures with enhanced efficiency for patients.

Dr. Adler highlighted the significant improvements in the emergency room experience since NYU’s affiliation with the South Shore institution three years ago. “The wait time has notably decreased, with patients now averaging about eight minutes from arrival to seeing their provider,” he explained. Additionally, infection rates have dropped by 25% since NYU’s involvement, and there has been a substantial expansion in continuity of care and in-house services previously outsourced.

The merger with NYU Langone Medical Center has paved the way for expanded outpatient services and advanced cancer care within the newly named facility, featuring 11 state-of-the-art operating rooms. Dr. Adler proudly shared that over 1,500 robotic procedures have been successfully performed, marking a significant advancement in medical technology.

The utilization of robotics in cancer operations has revolutionized treatment approaches, allowing for greater precision and efficiency. Dr. Adler emphasized the benefits for patients, including reduced bleeding, lower infection risks, shorter recovery times, and the possibility of same-day discharge. The hospital has also integrated robotics into various surgical procedures such as hernia repairs, gallbladder surgeries, and urological interventions.

Excitingly, Dr. Adler expressed his team’s enthusiasm for engaging local healthcare professionals and collaborating with educational institutions to nurture future talent. He highlighted the overwhelming support from the community and staff for the hospital’s evolution, emphasizing the positive impact of the merger on both employees and patients.

Reflecting on the hospital’s remarkable progress since the union with NYU in 2022, Dr. Adler noted the significant potential the facility possessed and the transformative journey it has embarked on. “With the right investments in resources and expertise, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation,” he concluded.
