Unveiled in January 2000, Liza found herself in the midst of a career as a senior copywriter at the renowned advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding. The unfolding of fate led her to cross paths with Conan during a memorable Late Night segment, where he enlisted their services to create fictitious ads for Hilton Furniture. The echoes of that collaboration still resonate on YouTube to this day, though Liza revealed that Conan has chosen to spare himself the rewatch. In her own words from 2022, “He won’t watch it. He wants to remember it instead… He says he prefers his memory to whatever the truth is.”
Their first encounter extended beyond professional realms, as Conan recounted the unexpected turn of events during a conversation with Michelle Obama on her “The Light Podcast”. Liza’s unfiltered openness struck a chord with Conan, who shared, “We end up talking in the lobby, and she said everything a woman is not supposed to say, leading off with, ‘Yeah, I saw my gynecologist recently, and my gynecologist said I need to start having children in the next two to three years if I really want them to be healthy.’ And me, rather than be panicked, I’m thinking, ‘Yes, you should have children. Your children should be my children.’”
The tale of Conan and Liza continued its enchanting narrative as they exchanged vows on January 12, 2002, at the picturesque St. James Cathedral in Seattle. Fast forward two years, and they welcomed the joys of parenthood with the arrival of their daughter Neve in 2003, followed by son Beckett in 2005.
