Fashion icon Rachel Zoe has urgently warned parents after her son was hospitalized due to an e-bike accident over the weekend. On March 1, Rachel Zoe, a celebrity stylist and designer at age 53, took to her Instagram Stories to reveal the unfortunate incident involving her eldest son, 14-year-old Skyler. The accident left Skyler with a badly lacerated kidney, experiencing significant pain, and left Zoe herself feeling shattered.
In a heartfelt post, Rachel Zoe shared a photo of her son in a hospital bed, looking at his phone after spending a grueling 9 hours in the emergency room following the e-bike accident. Zoe, in a strong message to other parents, emphasized the dangers of e-bikes, urging them to refrain from purchasing such bikes for their children.
“For any parent considering getting an E-BIKE for their child, DO NOT,” she boldly stated over the photo. “I did not, and I firmly stand against it. Despite that, Sky ended up in the ER for 9 hours… If your child is pushing for one, the answer should be a firm NO.”
While the specifics of how Skyler ended up hospitalized from the e-bike accident remain unclear, Rachel Zoe reiterated her stance in a follow-up Instagram Stories post. She mentioned that her son was in such pain that he couldn’t even laugh or sneeze due to the biking mishap.
“Even after 100 tests, we’re still here, and I realize how much worse it could have been,” Zoe expressed. “But to all parents on the verge of giving in to the E-BIKE demand, please don’t. As long as I have a say, Sky will not be riding one. A definite NO.”
Zoe also took a moment to thank the dedicated medical professionals who were caring for her son, acknowledging them as heroes for their tireless work.
This recent e-bike incident involving Skyler comes over four years after another harrowing experience in December 2020 when he fell 40 feet from a ski lift. Following that incident, Zoe described her son as incredibly brave and emphasized the fragility of life.
Rachel Zoe shares two sons, Skyler and 11-year-old Kaius, with her estranged husband Rodger Berman. In September, Zoe and Berman announced their decision to split after 26 years of marriage. Despite their separation, they remain dedicated to co-parenting their boys.
