Diesel Unveils Provocative NSFW Collection at Fashion Week Show

Are you ready for a bold fashion statement that’s causing a stir? Brace yourself, as low-rise jeans and a hint of butt crack are making a daring comeback in the name of embracing the naked look. On February 27, Diesel took the fashion world by storm with its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, which deviated from the expected shearling coats and woolen accessories to introduce a sultry denim silhouette that resurrected a divisive trend from the 1990s: bumper jeans.

During Milan Fashion Week, the renowned Italian label introduced a line of super-low-rise straight-leg jeans that sat so provocatively low on the hips that they teasingly revealed just a peek of the lower back. Models strutted down the runway sporting these NSFW (not safe for work) pants, their bum cleavage further accentuated by some opting to go topless (although one female model donned a backless top).

The concept of ‘bumpers’ isn’t entirely new, as it traces back to when Alexander McQueen first showcased a similar silhouette in his 1993 “Taxi Driver” collection, according to Vogue. Described by museum curator Andrew Bolton, who collaborates on Met Gala exhibitions with Anna Wintour, McQueen’s design aimed to elongate the body frame and highlight the undercurve of the spine.

Alongside the attention-grabbing bumper jeans, Diesel’s seasonal collection featured other racy pieces, including transparent dresses that revealed nipples and denim skirts so short they made the no-pants trend pale in comparison. The capsule was described in a press release as being “elevated yet disrupted, corrupted, slashed, destroyed, and impossibly low-cut,” and was presented in an installation adorned with graffiti contributed by nearly 7,000 amateur and professional artists.

The boundary-pushing styles seen at Diesel’s show may soon find their way onto red carpets, as more celebrities embrace daring and skin-baring looks. Notable figures like Katy Perry, who flaunted her cheeks in an Ellie Misner lace-up skirt and G-string, and Zendaya, who made a futuristic fashion statement at the Dune 2 London premiere in an archival Mugler robot suit with cheek cutouts, have already embraced such bold styles.

Even at prestigious events like the Met Gala, stars like Dua Lipa have opted for revealing ensembles, such as a Marc Jacobs corset and lace skirt combo that left little to the imagination. This year’s awards season has also seen a trend of open-back gowns, with celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Nicole Kidman, and Kylie Jenner daring to show some skin at events like the Golden Globes. Sabrina Carpenter also turned heads in a Johnathan Anderson dress with a hemline so daringly low that it grazed her derriere.
