Former NFL Player Shares Startling Explanation for Leaving the League

Based in Indianapolis, NFL draft hopeful Mike Green, a highly-acclaimed edge rusher who earned a spot on the second-team All-America roster, unveiled the reason behind his decision to transfer from the University of Virginia to Marshall University. Green disclosed to journalists during a press conference at the NFL scouting combine held on Wednesday that he made the move following allegations of sexual assault for the second time in his career. Notably, Green revealed that he had previously faced similar accusations during his high school years, emphasizing that he was never formally charged and vehemently asserting his innocence in both instances.

Standing tall at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing in at 251 pounds, the talented athlete hails from Williamsburg, Virginia. He showcased his skills in six games for the Cavaliers during the 2021 season but notably did not see game time the following year. Despite the circumstances surrounding his departure from Virginia, Green conveyed a message of forgiveness, stating, “No grudges are held.”

Recognized as the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, Green made waves with an impressive 17 sacks in the previous season, marking the highest tally in all of major college football. His success continued at Marshall University, where he recorded an outstanding 21 1/2 sacks over the course of two seasons with the Thundering Herd.

Asserting his confidence and talent, Green boldly proclaimed at the NFL combine, “I’m the best edge rusher here.”
