Egg prices are forecasted to experience a significant surge in 2025

FURTHER INFORMATION: The escalation of egg prices has persisted, reaching unprecedented levels, as reported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). A recent publication by the USDA on February 14 highlighted a notable increase of $0.40 in wholesale egg prices within a span of 30 days. The USDA expressed concerns regarding the limited availability of eggs in the market, attributing this scarcity to the ongoing impact of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) on poultry flocks. The agency emphasized that the current circumstances offer little hope for immediate improvement.
In accordance with data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there have been 70 documented cases of bird flu affecting humans, predominantly displaying mild symptoms. Regrettably, one fatality has been reported, involving an individual over the age of 65 with underlying health conditions. This individual had been in contact with non-commercial backyard flocks and wild birds.
Projections from the USDA suggest that egg prices are expected to skyrocket by more than 41% in the year 2025. For more detailed information, the original article can be accessed on abcnews.go.com.
