Celebrity Overcomes Dark Past to Find Peace

“I used to struggle with alcohol, and it clouded my mind with fears,” she shared. “But once I let go of alcohol, those fears began to fade away. I found it much easier to tap into my artistic side.” Reflecting on the making of her latest record, she remarked, “Drinking made me overanalyze everything. This album wasn’t about chasing a hit. It was about capturing a certain vibe. Los Angeles lacks that authenticity right now; it’s become too formulaic. I wanted to break free from that mold personally. I’m not seeking commercial success or radio play. I’m independent of any record label.”

A spokesperson for Simpson has not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

In November 2024, Simpson marked seven years of sobriety. She took to Instagram to share, “7 years ago today, I made the decision to live alcohol-free.” Her post was met with an outpouring of support from fans and peers, with one user praising her bravery in confronting addiction and actor John Stamos applauding her journey.

Speaking to E! News in 2023, Simpson revealed, “Quitting alcohol has been the greatest gift I’ve given myself. I now have greater mental clarity. I cherish being fully present in conversations, absorbing others’ thoughts, and truly listening. Being sober has allowed me to fully embrace life, and I revel in it.”

Simpson also humorously noted, “And staying sober has helped me keep off those extra pounds, especially during the holiday season.”

Following her separation from Johnson, Simpson shared with People magazine that she has ventured into creating “sexy” music with her latest project, “Nashville Canyon, Part 1,” featuring five soulful and rockabilly-infused tracks. Describing her single “Use My Heart Against Me,” she explained, “It’s a sultry track born out of a desire for someone you crave, even if it means your heart may be used against you, if just for a night. It’s about surrendering, just for the thrill.”

Reflecting on her music journey, she expressed, “I delved into this music independently, and Nashville provided the perfect backdrop for me to assert my identity and claim my space.” Embracing her growth, she added, “I’m at a point in my life where I am empowered as a woman and free to express myself through my music. ‘Nashville Canyon’ embodies that sense of liberation.”
