Exciting Victory as Young Forward Scores Amazing Goal

Ally Sentnor showcased her talent with a remarkable long-distance goal during the US Women’s National Team (USWNT) match against Colombia in the SheBelieves Cup. This incredible goal contributed to a 2-0 victory for the US team. Catarina Macario had initiated the scoring with a fine team goal in the 33rd minute before Sentnor’s second-half strike expanded the lead.

In a post-match interview, Sentnor expressed her elation at scoring her first international goal, emphasizing the style in which she achieved it. The 21-year-old received the ball, made a dynamic run towards the goal, and launched a swerving shot into the net. Sentnor, who was named the US Young Female Player of the Year in the previous year, jubilantly celebrated with her teammates on the sidelines.

Reflecting on the win, Sentnor shared, “It means the world to me. Playing alongside individuals I’ve admired and watched growing up is a surreal moment.” The victory extended the USWNT’s unbeaten streak to 21 matches, with their last defeat dating back to February the previous year against Mexico. Emma Hayes’s team aims to secure a sixth consecutive SheBelieves Cup title, maintaining their dominance in the competition.

The match also marked a memorable moment for Catarina Macario, the other goal scorer of the night. After overcoming injuries, including a torn ACL in 2022 and missing the Olympic Games due to a knee issue, the 25-year-old found the back of the net with an impressive goal. Macario’s goal was the culmination of a splendid team play that commenced with Lily Yohannes, a promising 17-year-old making her debut for the USWNT. Yohannes provided an exquisite pass to Yazmeen Ryan, who delivered a perfect cross for Macario to finish.

Expressing her gratitude for being back on the field, Macario said, “It’s a joy to play again. Scoring is an added bonus, but the most important thing is playing. I’m thrilled to have scored and hopeful for more goals in the future.” The revamped USWNT lineup displayed a successful performance against Colombia, containing their attacking threats effectively. Despite the talents of Linda Caicedo and Mayra Ramírez, Colombia could not break through in their tournament debut.

Looking ahead, the US team faces a challenging match against Australia on Sunday, followed by a clash with Japan on Wednesday. Stay updated with more news and newsletters from CNN by creating an account on CNN.com.
