EXCLUSIVE LOUNGE UNVEILS CHIC DESIGN SECRETS

“Advertisers Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may generate income from certain items linked here.” Designer Amanda Reynal has a special connection to Palm Beach, having grown up frequenting the iconic Lilly Pulitzer store on Worth Avenue. When she learned that Lee Jofa had collaborated with the renowned fashion designer on a new fabric and wallpaper collection, Reynal was determined to incorporate it into a forthcoming project. This opportunity materialized in her creation for the 2025 Kips Bay Decorator Show House – a room exuding elegance and charm.

Reynal converted the former office space, complete with an adjacent powder room, into a sophisticated ladies’ lounge. The revamped area features two comfortable seating arrangements suitable for various gatherings, as well as cozy moments spent relaxing on the burl wood coffee table from Made Goods and getting lost in a captivating read. To complete the ambiance of a true ladies’ lounge, a mahjong table is strategically placed near one of the seating areas, ensuring seamless conversations continue throughout the game.

“While Palm Beach is often perceived as formal and upscale, my interpretation is more laid-back, vibrant, and centered around outdoor living,” reflects Reynal. “It’s about embracing a lifestyle that is lively, inviting, and cheerful.” The focal point of the room is the eye-catching Lee Jofa x Lilly Pulitzer grasscloth wallcovering adorned with aqua and green palm trees, complemented by the sophisticated kelly green lambrequins and curtains expertly crafted by The Shade Store.

The artistic elements pay homage to Lilly Pulitzer, featuring decorative tortoise shells by her daughter Minnie Pulitzer and photography by her grandson Chris Leidy. The powder room is accented with teal fixtures from Kohler, a subtle nod to the brand’s iconic 1960s aesthetic. Despite the vibrant elements, Reynal’s design maintains a sense of balance, ensuring the lounge feels cozy and not overwhelmed by color and pattern.

“I wanted to create a space that captures the essence of Lilly’s interiors, rather than mimicking a Lilly store, as our designs are crafted for long-term enjoyment and everyday living,” explains Reynal. “Unlike changing outfits, we commit to our interiors for the long haul, so it was crucial to strike a harmonious balance and avoid overwhelming the space with excessive elements.”
