Berkus, with his deep-rooted connections to the area, was handpicked by Compass broker Leonard Steinberg for his understanding of Greenwich Village’s essence and its allure to residents.
“I have a profound connection to Greenwich Village and its unique charm,” Berkus explains, reflecting on his inspiration for The Katharine. Originally constructed in 1930 as The Katharine House by the Ladies Christian Union, the building holds a rich history and architectural significance. Designed by the esteemed architect Benjamin Wistar Morris, known for his iconic city landmarks, the structure was meticulously converted with the guidance of BKSK Architects. The restoration preserved Morris’s distinctive style, with each residence offering a blend of heritage elements and contemporary touches like vintage Italian lighting, stone flooring, and custom marble fireplaces in select units.
