Surprise Music Career Hinted by Celebrity Weatherman

Al Roker spilled the beans about his secret desire to join a boy band after being in the midst of a visit by one of the most beloved groups of its genre on the Today show earlier this week. The veteran weather reporter found himself present when the iconic Backstreet Boys graced the NBC morning news show with their melodic tunes and engaging banter. Sharing the excitement from the encounter, the 70-year-old Roker took to Instagram to post pictures of the encounter, including a snapshot capturing him striking a pose at the center of the quintet as they huddled around him.
In a playful Instagram caption on Friday, Feb. 14, Roker cheekily remarked, “Okay. One more time. That’s what happens when you are moving too fast,” before revealing his allegiance to the Backstreet Boys and expressing his wish to potentially become a backup member of the group. “While I love those other guys, @backstreetboys are the jam. I hope I can still be a backup backstreeter.”
Fans showered admiration on the shared snapshots in the comment section, with one enthusiast urging Roker, “Do it just do it 😂❤️,” while another playfully reassured him, “😂 yes, yes you can.” The performance by the Backstreet Boys on the Today show this past Friday also garnered rave reviews from viewers. “Backstreet’s back on TODAY! Alright! Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!” one elated Instagram user exclaimed.
In a shared clip of the band’s performance on Instagram, the focus shifted from the group to Roker and his co-hosts, Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer, as they immersed themselves in the music from within the studio’s intimate crowd. Both Melvin and Roker swayed to the rhythm, while Dreyer beamed beside them, clearly relishing their enjoyment of the show.
The appearance of the Backstreet Boys on Today was not only about their upcoming Las Vegas residency at the Sphere and the release of their new album, Millennium 2.0, scheduled to coincide with the start of the residency on July 11. Stay tuned for more updates on this unexpected reunion of an iconic boy band to delight fans with the ‘Ultimate Collab’.
