A man has suffered serious head and leg injuries following a vicious attack involving a crowbar in Belfast city center. The authorities were alerted to the incident that took place between 02:00 and 03:00 GMT on Thursday. According to the police report, a man driving a black and white Audi stopped outside a licensed establishment in Patterson’s Place, exited his vehicle, and proceeded to physically assault another man by punching him. Subsequently, a passenger from the car also got out and brutally struck the victim with a crowbar.
Shortly after the assault, officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) responded to a call at a residence in Downpatrick. There, they apprehended a man in his twenties who was believed to be involved in the attack. The individual was taken into custody on suspicion of several offenses, including possession of an offensive weapon with the intent to commit a serious crime and causing bodily harm through assault.
The suspect has since been released on bail pending further investigation to gather additional evidence. Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the incident.
