Police have launched a massive operation following a suspected attack in Munich. The incident took place at the intersection of Dachauer Street and Seidle Street near the city’s central train station. Specifically, it occurred at Stilgmaierplatz during a rally organized by the Verdi trade union at 10:30 a.m. local time. Authorities had a presence at the event, with officers already on the scene.
According to a spokesperson from the Munich Police, the suspect reportedly overtook a police vehicle with his car, then accelerated and drove into the back of the demonstration. It is believed that the individual acted alone. In response to the incident, a significant police operation is currently underway. Residents are being urged to avoid the area to facilitate the work of emergency responders.
Images from the location show law enforcement and medical personnel attending to a damaged vehicle surrounded by scattered belongings and debris. The area has been cordoned off by the police, while helicopters circle above the scene. At this time, neither the suspect nor the vehicle involved has been identified.
This incident comes shortly after a vehicle crashed into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to nearly 70 others, as reported by local officials. The situation in Munich is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
