A lawsuit was filed against Kanye West by a former marketing staffer on Tuesday, alleging that she was terminated by West after he insulted her appearance and sent her a controversial text message. The staffer, who is Jewish, claims that West regularly made hateful and anti-Semitic remarks towards his Jewish employees. The lawsuit, which was filed in L.A. Superior Court, includes text messages from West in which he used derogatory language and made references to Nazism. West’s account on the social media platform X was deactivated following a similar outburst, including statements like “I’m a Nazi.”
The lawsuit details a pattern of anti-Semitic behavior by West that allegedly occurred between January and June of 2024. The plaintiff, known only as Jane Doe, was hired as a marketing specialist in December 2023. Despite issuing an apology in Hebrew for previous anti-Semitic comments, West’s behavior reportedly did not change. The lawsuit describes an incident where the plaintiff suggested that West distance himself from any association with Nazism, to which West responded with a text message saying, “I Am A Nazi.”
According to the lawsuit, Doe was initially fired in March 2024 but was rehired shortly after at double her salary. In June of the same year, West allegedly went on a tirade in a group chat, comparing himself to Hitler and targeting the plaintiff with abusive language. The suit claims that West continued to verbally attack the plaintiff, insulting her appearance and intelligence before ultimately firing her the next day.
The lawsuit alleges gender and religious discrimination, as well as wrongful termination, among other claims. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Carney Shegerian, stated, “Ye waged a relentless and deliberate campaign of antisemitism and misogyny against my client.” The lawyer emphasized the need for accountability, stating that West’s behavior should not be excused. The statement concluded with a declaration that the plaintiff will pursue legal action against West.
