The harrowing crash took place early Sunday afternoon on a two-way road near Wenatchee, a city located approximately 150 miles east of Seattle. According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision unfolded when a driver in a 2007 Toyota Camry attempted to overtake another vehicle in front of it, inadvertently colliding with a bus traveling in the opposite direction in the adjacent lane. The bus, carrying 27 passengers along with the bus driver, veered off the road and rolled into a ditch as a result of the impact.
Both the car and the bus sustained severe damage, leaving them completely wrecked as confirmed by the state patrol. Furthermore, the Camry also struck the car it was attempting to pass, which was occupied by an adult driver and two young children. In a tragic turn of events, the driver of the Camry, identified as a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old male passenger inside the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene. Additionally, the 66-year-old bus driver also lost his life in the accident, as detailed in the state patrol report.
Regrettably, one passenger aboard the bus succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital, as stated by the state patrol. Authorities refrained from disclosing the identity of the deceased passenger at the time.
The collision also left seven bus passengers with varying degrees of injuries. Ranging in age from 24 to 71, these individuals are all residents of Washington state, primarily hailing from Spokane.
