Disturbing New Coffee Mate Advertisement Causes Stir on Social Media

If you were watching the Super Bowl (or just glancing up from your buffalo chicken dip during the commercial breaks), chances are you came across Coffee Mate’s 30-second ad—and now, like many of us, you’re left feeling traumatized, confused, and questioning everything. For its first-ever Super Bowl commercial, the creamer brand decided to make a big statement by featuring a voiceover from Shania Twain…and an abundance of tongue action? The protagonist in the ad takes a sip of Coffee Mate’s latest cold foam product, licks his upper lip suggestively, and then proceeds to deliver what can only be described as a peculiar tongue performance, singing “Give me cold foam!” with Twain’s vocals in the background. Fans wasted no time sharing their thoughts online. “That Coffee Mate commercial is hands down the weirdest one yet. No, thank you,” one user commented on the platform. Another chimed in, “I’m seriously considering suing Coffee Mate.” A third person added, “What’s up with that creepy Coffee Mate commercial, though?” Yet another individual questioned, “Do I deserve compensation for being subjected to that Coffee Mate tongue ad?” (We were thinking the same thing)(Can we consult a legal expert about this?)

Some questioned how the advertising team even approved the concept in the first place: “Who thought it was a good idea for Coffee Mate to feature tongues in a commercial?” and “That Coffee Mate commercial should be banned from TV,” others remarked.
Shania Twain herself tried to shed some light on the advertisement in a statement for the brand. “(The song) is all about embracing your inner pop star and the energy that comes with that first sip of something extraordinary,” she explained in the press release. “As someone who loves coffee—(Coffee Mate) has kept me going during many late-night tour stops over the years.”
While not everyone may have appreciated the visual, if Coffee Mate was aiming for memorability, it certainly achieved that. The image of the tongue-wagging moment is now etched in
