Exciting Winter Event Coming Soon… Prepare Yourself!

For snow enthusiasts in the Northeast and Midwest, this could be your moment. The upcoming winter storm predicted to bring a mix of snow, ice, and rain to parts of the central and eastern U.S. this weekend is just one of many to come, according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Joe Lundberg. The National Weather Service also confirmed an active pattern of storm systems moving across the country.
Reports suggest that snowfall totals in major cities like Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C., are likely to surpass the past two winters combined. Some models even predict a substantial 2-3 feet of snowfall in the Northeast over the next 10 days.
The weekend will see a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain affecting the Midwest and Northeast. New York City is expected to receive around 4 inches of snow, while Boston may see as much as 6-12 inches. Dangerous driving conditions are anticipated due to heavy snow and low visibility.
Moving into next week, a series of storms is forecasted to impact various parts of the country. From late Monday to Wednesday, a storm originating in Texas will move towards the mid-Atlantic coast, bringing snow, ice, and potential severe weather. Another storm later in the week is expected to target the Midwest with heavy snowfall in cities like Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago.
While wintry conditions dominate the northern regions, the southern U.S. will experience milder weather. Stay updated for further developments and be prepared for winter’s grip in your area.

In summer-like conditions, Oravec mentioned that temperatures on Saturday in the Deep South are expected to rise significantly, with highs reaching as much as 30 degrees above the average. According to the weather service, many areas will see temperatures exceeding 80 degrees. Although the intense heat is projected to subside next week, AccuWeather forecasts a period of wet weather for parts of the South. As moisture from the Gulf moves northward into the warmer region of next week’s storms, bands of rain are likely to linger from the Mississippi to the lower Tennessee valleys.

Accompanying meteorologist Lundberg stated, “In the warmer air south of these storms, periods of rain may result in localized flooding. Moreover, there is a possibility of severe thunderstorms in the lower Mississippi Valley and parts of the Southeast.” This article was first published on USA TODAY: A ‘parade’ of snow and winter weather is predicted for the Northeast and Midwest.
