During a recent episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg issued a cautionary message to the public regarding a deceptive weight loss advertisement circulating online. The ad in question utilized artificial intelligence to feature Goldberg’s likeness, leading her to denounce it as fraudulent. She expressed her concern, stating, “I’m alerting everyone to be wary of a deceitful weight loss ad circulating on Instagram, where an AI-generated version of me is endorsing questionable products.”

While Goldberg refrained from specifying the exact brand promoted in the advertisement, she emphasized the malicious intent behind the use of her image. She noted, “They manipulated footage from ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ to create this concoction where I am advocating for dubious weight loss supplements. I urge you all to steer clear of it, discard it immediately. This misrepresentation has no association with me, and I strongly advise against engaging with it.”

Drawing attention to her own weight loss journey, Goldberg reiterated that her successful transformation was not a result of the misrepresented product but rather a medication called Mounjaro. She candidly shared her experience, revealing, “When I was filming ‘Till,’ I was nearly 300 pounds due to the medications I was on. Mounjaro played a significant role in my weight loss journey, which I disclosed in a previous episode of ‘The View.’”

In addition to cautioning viewers about the deceptive advertisement, Goldberg raised concerns about the proliferation of AI-generated content. She highlighted the dangers of such content, remarking, “The anonymity surrounding AI-generated materials poses a significant challenge. It’s vital to exercise caution as you never truly know the origin of these creations. Be vigilant, as there is an abundance of misinformation circulating.”

Affirming her commitment to transparency in endorsements, Goldberg emphasized, “I do not endorse any product without clearly identifying myself. If it doesn’t carry my personal stamp of approval – ‘Hi, it’s Whoopi’ – then it is not genuine.” Her unwavering stance against misleading advertisements serves as a reminder to remain vigilant in the face of deceptive marketing practices.
