Unexpected Confession Drew Barrymore’s Touchy Moment with Martha Stewart!

“Star reveals shocking on-air mishap with guest”
Drew Barrymore isn’t overly concerned about her friendship with Martha Stewart, despite the online buzz. During an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show in November, fans speculated that the lifestyle guru was less than thrilled with Barrymore’s habit of getting up close and personal with her guests. In a playful moment, Stewart pushed Barrymore away after sharing what makes her feel “soft and gooey.” Now, Barrymore, 49, is setting the record straight on that memorable interaction. Addressing the buzz, she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live on Feb. 5, “I think she was just teasing.” Barrymore expressed newfound confidence that Stewart, 83, genuinely likes her.
Barrymore acknowledged that there may have been a misunderstanding and emphasized that there’s no underlying tension. She admitted, “When I first was getting to know her, I was like, I don’t think she likes me. But I think I broke through.” Barrymore reassured, “She doesn’t dislike me.”
During her chat with Cohen and guest Nate Burleson on WWHL, Barrymore disclosed that she struggles to restrain her impulse to get close to her guests on her show’s couch, despite being advised against it. “I got focus-grouped when we launched and it was not good. It was awful,” she shared.
Barrymore’s tactile nature was further highlighted in a December episode when she welcomed Cynthia Erivo. Reflecting on her touchy-feely tendencies, Barrymore remarked, “I’m so touchy.” She revealed that people often caution her to dial it back, prompting her to question why. Explaining her inclination for physical connection, Barrymore mused, “Because physical connection — you know, I’m single, I’m not dating anyone… I don’t have that in my life but I don’t know how I would ever hold back from holding hands, hugging, snuggling.”
Erivo chimed in, suggesting that people may fear physical connections, assuming they are always romantic. Barrymore, who shares daughters Olive and Frankie with ex-husband Will Kopelman, concurred, admitting, “In fact, I think when there is a romantic connection, I’m far more timid.”
