Puzzle Envelops Unexpected Shutdown of Leading Retailer

Bargain Hunt has declared the commencement of an extensive “going-out-of-business sale” subsequent to the discount store chain’s submission for bankruptcy this week. The sale is slated to take place at all 92 Bargain Hunt outlets spanning across 10 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indianapolis, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee), as disclosed by the company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The going-out-of-business sale will be overseen by Hilco Consumer – Retail, in collaboration with Gold Brothers, a Boston-based entity.
The discount store chain announced, “All items in the stores are up for sale and must be liquidated, resulting in substantial markdowns on Bargain Hunt’s already competitive everyday prices across the full spectrum of inventory in the stores.”
The parent company of Bargain Hunt, Essex Technology Group, initiated Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings officially on Monday, as per a voluntary petition submitted in the Middle District of Tennessee. USA TODAY has reached out to Essex Technology Group’s legal representatives on Thursday but has not yet elicited a response.
Bargain Hunt has officially kicked off the Going-Out-of-Business sales at all 92 locations spread across 10 states.

Bargain Hunt has projected the final closure of all stores by the culmination of February. Customers will have the opportunity to avail discounts of up to 40% off the lowest ticketed prices storewide, encompassing clothing and footwear for men and women, toys, gardening supplies, automotive essentials, pet care products, and home embellishments, as per the retailer.
“We are maintaining well-stocked stores with fresh merchandise continuously arriving at heavily discounted rates,” stated Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer – Retail, in a press release. “We advise customers to promptly seize the best selections as this sale is transient.”
Bargain Hunt’s going-out-of-business sale is a time-sensitive event, and the company emphasized that “once the inventory depletes, it will not be replenished,” urging shoppers to move swiftly to secure the finest bargains before the stores draw their shutters permanently!
