Celebrity’s Social Media Goes Wild After Mistaken Identity Mix-Up

A hilarious mix-up on social media sent shockwaves through Adrien Brody’s online presence, all thanks to a case of mistaken identity involving none other than Kim Kardashian. The Oscar-nominated actor, known for his role in The Brutalist, found himself in the spotlight after Kim Kardashian confused him with another actor during an Instagram Stories post related to the Netflix series Nobody Wants This.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Feb. 3, Adrien Brody shared the amusing incident that occurred when Kardashian, 44, tagged him in her post praising the show. Jimmy Fallon, holding up a screenshot of Kardashian’s post, quoted her as saying, “‘I binged four episodes — it’s so good — must watch!’ [and she tagged] Erin Foster, Kristen Bell, Sara Foster, Adrien Brody, Netflix.” Adrien, 51, humorously recounted the aftermath of this accidental tagging, stating that his internet presence went into overdrive with the sudden surge in attention.

Inquiring about the mix-up, Fallon asked Adrien if he often gets mistaken for Adam Brody, 45, to which he revealed that following Kardashian’s post, the confusion had indeed increased. Adrien shared a recent anecdote where he was mistaken for Adam while at dinner with his director, Brady Corbet. Recalling the incident, he narrated how a gentleman mistook him for Adam Brody and even entered the women’s restroom before realizing his error.

Despite the mix-up, the success of Nobody Wants This has brought Adam Brody positive outcomes, including a Golden Globe nomination and increased professional opportunities. Adam expressed gratitude for the show’s success, mentioning a rise in the volume of interesting projects coming his way. Looking ahead, Adam emphasized his desire for diverse roles and highlighted the importance of quality writing in choosing his next projects.

Additionally, Adam and Kristen Bell are set to reprise their roles in the show’s second season, as confirmed in October. New executive producers and showrunners, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, have already begun work on the upcoming episodes. Kaplan expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that he was thoroughly enjoying the creative process.

For fans eager to catch up on the show, all episodes of Nobody Wants This season 1 are available for streaming on Netflix. Stay updated on the latest celebrity news and compelling human interest stories by signing up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter.
