MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) – Once a tranquil spot for a couple embarking on a journey together, a park swing in Municipal Lagan Park has now become a poignant place of solitude for a grieving fiancée. Miyca Williams, the heartbroken partner, now sits there alone as she grapples with the sudden and devastating loss of her envisioned future.
“Near the water was always our favorite place,” reminisced Williams, her voice tinged with sadness and longing.
Their love story was tragically cut short, with Williams having been engaged to Donald Neece for a mere month before his lifeless body was discovered by ALEA Marine Patrol Division Troopers on a fateful Wednesday morning.
“I never expected this, but who would?” Williams pondered aloud, her words heavy with disbelief and sorrow.
The last fleeting glimpse she caught of Neece was on a typical Tuesday morning as he bid her goodbye to kickstart his day. Everything seemed ordinary, routine even.
“He always kisses me before he leaves, and I woke up enough to see him standing up and tell him I love him,” Williams shared, her voice choked with emotion.
The plan was for Neece to return home that Tuesday night while she slumbered, but the dawn of Wednesday brought with it the stark reality of an empty side of the bed where he should have been.
Promptly springing into action, Williams checked Live 360 to track Neece and was met with the distressing sight of his phone being dead. Frantically, she reached out to friends, family, and his workplace in a desperate bid for answers but found none.
As the mysterious circumstances unfolded, traffic on Bayway ground to a halt for hours, with Williams caught amidst the gridlock. Upon arriving at her workplace, she learned the chilling reason behind the congestion – a death investigation was underway.
“I called Spanish Fort Police immediately,” Williams recounted, her voice trembling with trepidation.
Providing the authorities with a detailed description of Neece’s physical features led to a chilling confirmation.
“My whole world went blind white, I couldn’t hear, I didn’t want to hear, my life was changing and I didn’t want it to be him,” Williams recalled, her grief palpable in her words.
Subsequently, the case transitioned into a Baldwin County Homicide investigation, shedding light on the alarming fact that Neece’s vehicle had been absconded from the scene.
“I hope the law gets its hands on you,” Williams declared with an edge of raw anger. “I hope you live every day of the rest of your life in horrible, horrible pain where you regret taking him from us. I hope you regret it every minute of every day of your life.”
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has identified a person of interest in the case, with special agents actively collaborating with Florida law enforcement to trace the elusive vehicle and individual.
