Community members in Huber Heights are still reeling after a teenager was stabbed this week. A prayer vigil was held on Saturday night at the park where the incident occurred. Around a dozen people attended the vigil, expressing their shock and concern about the tragic event that took place on December 4. Cindy Davidson, Director of Huber Heights Community Cares, organized the vigil to address the impact of the stabbing. The community wanted to ensure that the event took place to acknowledge the seriousness of what had occurred. Huber Heights police responded to the stabbing at Herbert C. Huber Community Park, where a fight between two girls led to one of them being stabbed. The victim was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital in critical condition but is now stable. The suspect was apprehended in a nearby neighborhood. Many in the community, including Shannon Teague, whose daughter knew the victim, expressed sadness over the incident and the long-lasting effects it will have on the girls and their families. The community came together at the vigil to show support and pray for healing for all those affected. Huber Heights Community Cares plans to focus on student suicide prevention in their upcoming spring event to bring students together. In other news, Louisiana voters recently decided on several constitutional amendments, and there have been developments in cases such as a shooting in the Chinatown-International District and the tragic death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
