LSU Quarterback Colin Hurley Hospitalized After Car Crash Leaves Him Unresponsive!

A Louisiana State University freshman quarterback is recovering after being found unresponsive following a car crash. The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the accident involving Colin Hurley, 17, just before 3 a.m. on Thursday, January 16 near the school’s campus, as reported by ESPN, citing a crash report.

A local news station, WBRZ, reported that “pieces” of the athlete’s Dodge Charger were found scattered along Highland Road near the school’s South Gates after colliding with a tree.

Upon arrival of EMS and fire department personnel, Hurley was transported to a Baton Rouge area hospital for treatment. In a statement shared with PEOPLE on behalf of Hurley’s family, LSU Athletics expressed gratitude to the first responders, doctors, nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health, and Tiger Fans for their care and compassion. The statement confirmed that Hurley is stable and resting, undergoing further tests and care. The family expressed confidence in Hurley’s full recovery from the accident.

Hurley, wearing jersey number 16 for the LSU Tigers, was reportedly in and out of consciousness when rescued from the wreckage. Despite sustaining a large cut on his face, no major injuries were noted apart from that. The young quarterback is expected to fully recover from the incident.

While reports suggest that impairment is not a factor in the crash, ESPN mentioned that LSU refrained from commenting on the crash’s cause due to Hurley being a minor hailing from Jacksonville, Florida.

Hurley, who had not participated in any games this season as a true freshman backup quarterback for the Tigers, is anticipated to resume his promising football career once he has fully recovered.
